There’s something magical about being part of a close-knit community that truly cares! At Tufts, the classroom isn't just a place for lectures and assignments; it’s a space where meaningful connections are made, where students aren’t just another face in the crowd. Whether you’re sitting in a seminar or chatting with a professor after class, the personal attention you receive here is transformative. It's the kind of learning that sticks with you.

I'm Khadija Binte Nasir, a graduate student pursuing a Master’s in Teaching Education. Coming from a diverse cultural background, I’ve experienced firsthand how the sense of belonging at Tufts is unparalleled. With an impressive student-to-faculty ratio of 9:1, Tufts ensures that each of us gets the personalized guidance we need, not only academically but also in shaping our career paths. My professors know me by name, they know my passions, and most importantly, they know how to help me grow.

What truly stands out at Tufts is the collaborative culture. It’s a space where diversity isn’t just embraced; it’s celebrated. Whether you want to dive deep into environmental sustainability with The Green Fund, share cultural experiences through the identity centers with the Division of Student Diversity and Inclusion, or build your leadership skills in the Graduate Student Council, the opportunities are endless. These opportunities are extensions of our academic life, offering a chance to explore passions and build lifelong friendships.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the core of the Tufts experience. We come from all walks of life, with students from over 90 countries represented on campus. This creates a vibrant, multicultural community where learning extends beyond textbooks—it's about listening to different perspectives and expanding your worldview. Tufts is committed to institutional inclusive excellence, ensuring that every student, regardless of background, has access to the resources, support, and opportunities to succeed.

At the heart of this supportive community are numerous structures designed to ensure we thrive—academically, emotionally, and socially. Tufts’ support systems are as strong as its academic programs. The Student Accessibility and Academic Resources (StAAR) Center provides accommodations for students with disabilities, ensuring access to the Tufts experience. They also offer academic support through one-on-one academic success coaching, writing consultations, and tutoring, along with group programs and workshops. Counseling and Mental Health Service (CMHS) offers a counseling service for Tufts students. These services are free for students who paid the Health and Wellness fee. For graduate students like me, the support is even more tailored, with faculty who genuinely care about your well-being and success.

When I reflect on my journey here so far, I’m reminded that Tufts is not just preparing me to be an educator; it’s shaping me into a leader, an advocate, and someone who is ready to make a difference. And that’s the beauty of this place—you’re not just another student. You’re a valued member of the Tufts family, with your own unique path to carve out.

That’s what makes Tufts special. It’s not just a school—it’s a place where you find your voice.
