Why Tufts?
Â
Tufts wasn’t just my destination - it was my personal canvas. As someone who’s always wanted to teach, I knew Tufts would transform that dream into action. It’s where I get to fuse creativity with impact, shaping minds and education in ways I never imagined! And for the first time, I feel truly heard.Â
Before stepping onto this vibrant campus, I had a vision of teaching. I wanted to not just be a teacher, but also to inspire, to challenge, and to make a difference. But this vision needed a place to grow, evolve, and become something tangible. Tufts became that space for me. From the very first day, I realized it wasn’t just about being in a classroom - it was about discovering new ways to engage with the world around me, to understand the depth of what it means to be an educator.Â
One of the most transformative experiences Tufts offered me was a teaching residency at Somerville Middle School. This opportunity allowed me to put theory into practice, connecting with real students in a dynamic environment. Being in the classroom gave me a firsthand look at how diverse student needs can be and how crucial creativity is in meeting those needs. I was able to experiment with different teaching techniques, fostering a sense of belonging and curiosity in my students. This residency not only honed my skills but also solidified my belief in education as a powerful tool for change.Â
At Tufts, creativity is a driving force in education. It’s not just about following a curriculum; it’s about rethinking how we approach learning. Every discussion, assignment, and class bring new opportunities to think outside the box. My courses have pushed me to explore teaching as an art form, using storytelling, literature, and critical thinking as tools to shape the next generation.Â
Tufts has also given me a voice. My ideas aren’t just acknowledged, rather they’re celebrated! Professors and peers alike create a space where collaboration flourishes. It’s a place where I’m not only a student, but a co-creator of new perspectives on education. This experience has allowed me to grow, learn, and challenge my own assumptions about what it means to be a teacher.Â
At Tufts, I’ve found a community of passionate individuals who are committed to making a lasting impact. We’re not just learning how to teach - we’re learning how to lead, inspire, and change the world, one classroom at a time.Â
