Why Tufts?
"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" - Lao Tzu
The first day of February was when it all started for me. As an international student navigating through the rough and uncertain waters of my study abroad journey, I got my first admit, my first success, a Tufts admit. I always believed that stepping outside of my comfort zone was essential for my growth, and this academic endeavor felt like the first step toward realizing my aspirations. Months went by, and after getting admitted to other great schools, it felt like selecting a graduate school would take forever. But in the end, the incredible admissions team at Tufts made my decision easy.
I had to navigate the intricate process of obtaining an F-1 student visa before embarking on this journey. The visa interview was a pivotal moment. As I sat in front of the visa officer, I mentioned that I was heading to Tufts University, and his expression transformed into a warm smile. "Your parents must be very proud of you," he said, filling me with a sense of validation and pride.
Tufts University for me was always more than just an educational institution - it was a vibrant ecosystem of intellectual curiosity and innovative spirit. The campus culture radiates intellectual playfulness, collaboration, and kindness, creating an environment where students from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to explore, be challenged, and grow.
The university's commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive community is evident in its student body, which includes international students from over 80 countries. Tufts' academic rigor emphasizes interdisciplinary learning and its prime location near Boston offers unparalleled opportunities for both academic and professional development. With a student-to-faculty ratio of 9:1, Tufts ensures personalized attention, creating an atmosphere where students can thrive intellectually and socially.
Boston offers a unique blend of opportunities for MSEM graduate students like me. The city's robust tech scene, world-renowned institutions, and thriving startup ecosystem create a perfect environment for career growth.
From the city of IIT to MIT, from Mumbai’s local train to the MBTA’s “T,” from Mumbai’s Marine drive to Boston’s Harborwalk, I reflect on where I am now. As I think about my journey so far, I can confidently say that the course curriculum, coupled with the incredible learning experiences both at the university and in the vibrant city of Boston, has been nothing short of transformative. I am grateful to be part of this community. If you are looking for a university that is more than just education, a place of transformation where intellectual curiosity merges with genuine passion, and where diversity is not just a word but a living, breathing reality, then Tufts is your academic home.
