Welcoming Place

Returning to school after working, researching, or teaching can be a daunting proposition. Skills such as time management, creativity, and collaboration are approached differently in an academic environment. The faculty and staff at Tufts are outstanding at assisting new graduate students regardless of their academic or career backgrounds. Whether transitioning directly from an undergraduate institution to graduate studies or from the workforce back to school, Tufts has your back. The university provides an array of resources from academic tutoring to civic organizations and identity centers. After spending time abroad and in the workforce, I am grateful to feel at home in Tuft’s thriving community.

Fulfilling Career

Initially, Tufts interested me because of the university’s reputation for guiding graduates into diverse and fruitful careers. I sensed Tufts’ commitment to its students from the beginning. During the graduate application process, my email exchanges with the admissions office were unique and catered to me. I interacted with a real person, with real advice, and a genuine emotional investment in my education. The admissions team was always responsive and willing to answer my questions whether, large or small. This personable approach continues throughout one’s time at Tufts, and even after graduating. Unique courses, engaging instructors, and an active alumni network make Tufts ideal for finding a gratifying career.

Ambitious Cohort

Tufts also possesses a perfect location for ambitious people. There is an adage that “You are the company you keep.” If you can surround yourself with people you genuinely enjoy and want to be like, you can make the most of your ambitions. Tufts’ location – just outside of Boston – ensures that you are never far from a potential friend, mentor, or employer. Fortunately, the Boston area is densely populated and home to diverse people from all walks of life. There is most certainly a place for everyone. If you are seeking to join a book club, band, or basketball team, your future companions are assuredly nearby.

Passionate Peers

Graduate education is best suited for people passionate about their field of study. This passion is evident in every course I attended at Tufts thus far. Professors are detail-oriented and experts in their fields. Many professors conduct research, write, and present inventive ideas in their respective fields. Fortunately, this expertise does not detract from their ability to explain complicated concepts to students. Similarly, students are highly motivated and more than willing to learn from professors and one another. Graduate programs at Tufts bring together students from a variety of backgrounds. Some peers could be profoundly involved in advocacy work while others are transportation gurus with impressive knowledge about transit systems. Regardless, all Tufts students are united under a powerful social justice focus and a passion for the greater good.

I found my place at Tufts and I am sure you will, too.
