Himanshu Chaudhary

Himanshu Chaudhary

PhD in Psychology

Himanshu earned his BA in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles. He enjoys finding new hobbies and getting his hands dirty with woodworking or art projects. During his time at UCLA and working as a lab manager at UC Davis, he worked on a multitude of projects ranging from scaffolding of memory in older adults to modeling learning in the brain. Here at Tufts, he aims to continue his study of memory and the brain in older adults by looking for ways to tackle the cognitive deficits that comes with growing older as well as pursue his interest in the effects of technology on cognition to produce research that can be applied to the day to day lives of his subjects.

Emmanuel Daring

Emmanuel Daring

PhD in Education

I'm Emmanuel Daring and I was born and raised in New York City. One thing you'll quickly notice - I always have a pair of headphones with me and they're either playing my latest Spotify playlist or a podcast/audiobook at 2x speed.

My research interests continue to evolve, but they often fall into two broad categories. First, I'm curious how educators can structure STEM courses and classrooms to intentionally support students who have had negative experiences in their previous STEM classes. Second, I'm interested in exploring the role and responsibility of schools (in particular, secondary schools) to foster the social identity development of their students, specifically through the lenses of race, gender, and sexuality.

Qandeel Qazi

Qandeel Qazi

PhD in History

My name is Qandeel and I am a first-year PhD candidate in the Department of History at Tufts University. I graduated from the Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts with a BA (Honors) in Political Science, History, and Psychology and acquired an MA in World History and Cultures from King’s College London.

Through my undergraduate and graduate experiences, I have grown to conduct research through interdisciplinary perspectives. As a historian, I am interested in unraveling the South Asian past through the intersections of transnational, global, and colonial history. I also engage in the practice of micro-history and especially enjoy studying community-based narratives in tandem with dominant discourses in history writing. My previous research endeavors include studying the history of courtesan culture in colonial North India and documenting the efforts of Kashmir’s peasants and industrial workers in demonstrating their (direct and indirect) resistance against the Dogra government in circumstances of indirect colonial rule in the Princely State of Jammu & Kashmir.

Rosalia Rojas

Rosalia Rojas

PhD in Child Study and Human Development

Rosalia received her BA in Child and Adolescent Development with an emphasis in Applied Developmental Science from California State University, Northridge. She is pursuing her PhD in Child Study and Human Development at Tufts. Her personal and academic journey has led her to her passion for improving mental health outcomes among Latine youth. Broadly, she is interested in the impact social determinants of health have in the development of child psychopathology of historically marginalized youth. More specifically, she is interested in how various adverse life experiences exacerbate the risk of anxiety and depression.
